The Problem with Cell Phones in Todays Society - 1390 Words
11 Nov. 2014 Outline Thesis: The usage of cell phones in modern day society has caused quite the problem for citizens in this generation by being a major distraction, causing addictions, and has sadly became the main resource of communication. I. Introduction: What if every cell phone in the world crashed? How would society communicate? How would one know when someoneââ¬â¢s birthday is without getting a notification for it? Some people wouldnââ¬â¢t even know when to get up each morning. Thirty years ago, these questions would be easily answered, but it would have taken separate resources to solve each issue. Cell phones are distracting employees in the workplace and are leaving them with their jobs halfway done. Everywhere in the business industries, the employees are hard at work re-tweeting and catching up on the latest newsfeed rather than managing their time more wisely. Not only are cell phones a distraction in the workplace, they are also a distraction and disruptive in school districts, causing studentsââ¬â¢ attention to be elsewhere. Many students would rather text in the middle of class instead of pay attention to what the teacher is reviewing. In this case, students do not gain the amount of education provided for them. In addition to cell phones being distracting, people often like to multi-task by walking or driving while texting. These things cause them to be unaware of their surroundings. Texting while driving has become a major issue because texting and driving can lead to car crashes which are often fatal. On the other hand, texting and walking isnââ¬â¢t too bad, but can cause a little bit of embarrassment. There are stories of people walking into walls and bumping into people or tripping over a table because their nose seems to be stuck in their phone. To some, being on their cell phone is more important than grades, clients, and others around them. Another problem cell phones have caused is addictions. Exceptional Figures In Legend Of Sleepy Hollow English Literature Essay Free Essays
The attitudes of the people toward the exceeding figures in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will be discussed in this paper. In The Grave, society considered the grave to be an exceeding figure. Ichabod and the Headless Horseman in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow were considered outstanding characters by the community. We will write a custom essay sample on Exceptional Figures In Legend Of Sleepy Hollow English Literature Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now Peoples had assorted emotions about Brom Bones and it was difficult to state what the people were believing. Robert Blair ââ¬Ës work, The Grave, shows the attitude the people had refering the glumness of the grave. Ichabod was tall and lanky with immense custodies and narrow shoulders. He besides had long weaponries and legs. He had green eyes and his olfactory organ could state which way the air current was blowing. Ichabod ever put the load on the strong alternatively of the weak and helped out in his vicinity. When Ichabod did nââ¬â¢t demo up at school where he was a schoolmaster for yearss, people thought that he was dead. I think possibly he did nââ¬â¢t desire to cover with all the play with Hans Van Ripper and the town ââ¬Ës people. He helped with the vicinity choir and was considered the ââ¬Å" singing-master â⬠of the group. He was handpicked by the people to take the vocalizing during Sunday church services. Ichabod ââ¬Ës personality besides had an evil, anti- hero side. For illustration, while he was taking attention of the weak babes, Ichabod would be looking for the beautiful lady of the house. He wanted them to make things for him, such as do his repasts and possibly other favours. The lone ground he was a instructor was to have free repasts and live the easy life. He would travel to the weak in order to acquire what he wanted. Brom Bones, another character in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, is considered to be an outstanding figure and an anti- hero in his community. I feel that he was considered a bad cat when jobs in town occurred. Peoples in town had assorted feelings about him. They did nââ¬â¢t cognize what to believe of him. Every clip there was a bash, all of the town ââ¬Ës people would ever fault him for the battle. Brom Bones liked to affect the Dutch by demoing his witchery to the married womans and comets and hiting stars. In The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, another extraordinary character is the shade. There were many people in the town who were afraid to travel out tardily at dark, because they feared the Headless Horseman was doing his unit of ammunitions to the church graveyard. The fable is that it was the ââ¬Å" shade of a Hessian cavalryman â⬠, whose caput had been carried off by a cannon-ball in some unidentified conflict during the Revolutionary War. ââ¬Å" It was of all time and anon seen by the state common people travel rapidlying along in the somberness of dark. â⬠I think the Headless Horseman is merely seeking to acquire back to the conflict to happen his caput. He ever returns to the Godââ¬â¢s acre before daytime Begins. I do nââ¬â¢t believe the Headless Horseman is person to be feared ; he is merely seeking urgently to happen his caput. In Robert Blair ââ¬Ës The Grave everyone ââ¬Ës grave is considered glooming and awful and an exceeding figure to society. Everyone in this narrative thinks the grave is bad and non a topographic point to travel. For illustration, in the narrative it mentions the grave as ââ¬Å" the keys of snake pit and decease. â⬠Peoples were afraid because life was like Eden and death is like traveling to hell. In the narrative, Blair besides talks about how peaceable and unagitated it is. When he uses the word peace, he is speaking about how the organic structure is when 1 ââ¬Ës true psyche eventually finds it. One will eventually turn to dust and be given back to the land which they were given as a gift of life. There is one grave at the graveyard that ever vanishes at dark. It ââ¬Ës a freshly opened grave. I feel this means that when a individual is dead, they can come back to life. It reminds me that people are truly merely populating their lives off of borrowed clip and life is non to be taken for granted. Time is cherished, which is something that people tend to bury. I do nââ¬â¢t believe it was their whole organic structures, but merely their liquors. Even in today ââ¬Ës society, there is a telecasting show called ââ¬Å" The Haunting, â⬠where they find evil liquors inquiring about. I think all liquors that are left on Earth are merely evil liquors desiring to harm all the good people in our society. In The Grave, it discusses people holding life after decease. For illustration, it states that ââ¬Å" Of the good Man is PEACE. â⬠I think this shows that if a individual dies a good individual, they have nil to worry approximately. The people during the Romantic Time period should hold been able to travel to heaven and non be worried about the grave and the result of their life. If a individual lives a good life, so they will travel to heaven. A individual should nââ¬â¢t be afraid of deceasing. A individual should be happy and rejoice because they are traveling to a better topographic point. In The Grave, there are non people that think about decease and themselves at the same clip. For illustration, the book states ââ¬Å" as if to larn to decease were no concern of ours. â⬠I think the people back so merely did nââ¬â¢t cognize when their clip would be so they did nââ¬â¢t brood on it. They knew that it was a portion of life and it happened to everybody. Peoples of those times should hold thought about it some ; it ââ¬Ës foolish non to believe about it at all. A individual does nââ¬â¢t cognize if tomorrow is traveling to their last twenty-four hours. God can stop this universe whenever he wants ; it ââ¬Ës his and he created it. I hope that people of that clip thought about the true significance of life for God every twenty-four hours. All in all, the extraordinary figures did cognize the difference between life and decease. Ichabod and the Headless Horsemen were good known by their communities. They were known as non all bad, but more of a split personality. I think Brom Bones besides had some good qualities about him because he did assist in his community. Peoples did nââ¬â¢t merely look at the glumness in the grave, but besides on the bright side of the hereafter. Research Opportunities for Future Internet â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Research Opportunities for Future Internet. Answer: Introduction: The evaluation of the qualified chromosome consists of low annual cost. The system configuration of chromosome is the optimal solution for reducing the iteration problem. Implementing better solution in the GA generations will replace the optimal one during the evolution. Completing the selection process, when the determination of convergence criteria is fulfilled, the available optimal solution will then become a subject of intersection and transformation for smoothening the production of next generation population. A genetic algorithm will be used by the configuration to minimize the ACS. For evaluating the load requirement the LPSP system will be used. Hence, for determining the exact LPSP value, there needs to be both technical and economical identification of optimal configuration in need of achieving the lowest ACS and satisfying the requirement of the LPSP. Miele Organisational Resources Base
Introduction: general overview of the company Miele is the company which produces high-end home appliances and professional catering tools including kitchen equipment for industrial use. All tools and appliances produced under the Miele brand are associated with quality and reliability because the companyââ¬â¢s intangible capital or, to be more exact, its reputation has been formed for decades with the help of approach that did not change for years.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Miele: Organisational Resources Base specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In this respect, it is necessary to outline the key resources that made this company successful by now and offer certain strategies to sustain it in the current condition further. Besides, competitive advantage and its value for Mieleââ¬â¢s success should be enlarged on as it brings the company along compared to its competitorsââ¬â¢ position in the global mar ket taking into account Mieleââ¬â¢s success within domestic market of home appliances and other goods produced under this brand. Key resources of the companyââ¬â¢s success The key resources of any company include assets and capabilities. In this respect, Miele can be analysed as a brand whose customer based assets include strong company name and reputation based on high-quality products resulting in customer loyalty. In other words, the fact that the company spends more on innovation, research, development, and customer relationship management benefits its susses in the market. Internal support and supply chain assets include machines and mechanisms, buildings, and research centres whereas alliance-based assets establish companyââ¬â¢s relations with all branches that take part in the manufacturing process making all plants that are situated outside the main area of Mieleââ¬â¢s activity produce goods under the same brand. Strategic capabilities of Miele are based on the c ompanyââ¬â¢s traditions and implementation of new technologies in operation. Functional capabilities include Mieleââ¬â¢s manufacturing of high-quality goods though they do not try to compete at a price level selling their goods at appropriate cost. Operational capabilities include high-end goods and plans of the company for the future. Competition in a changing market Competition that takes place in the changing market has little relation to what Miele is going to achieve because the company is aimed at production of high-end goods that serve for long periods of time compared to those produced by competitors.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More In this respect, trying to compete for a price will make Mieleââ¬â¢s products of lower quality discouraging loyal customers and people that wanted to buy products under this brand for their high quality from doing so. In other wo rds, Miele can compete for a price but it also can sustain its position in the market which is unique and remain a manufacturer of high-end products, home appliances, and other equipment. Successful resources for Miele in future Miele is a successful brand due to the unique niche it occupies in the global market contrasted to is competitors. Though some customers are ready to buy rather expensive products as investment in the future operation period, it is necessary to introduce changes concerning the resources spent on production of expensive goods. In other words, Mieleââ¬â¢s target audience includes people that realise the benefits of such appliances or those who seek for prestigious tools (tools that are claimed to be prestigious to have produced under a definite brand). So, it is possible to reduce costs on production of ââ¬Ëluxuriousââ¬â¢ tools and make the products manufactured for ordinary people, that want to invest in appliances as a good method of economizing, mo re available in terms of costs. The balance between freedom and order Essays
The balance between freedom and order Essays The balance between freedom and order Paper The balance between freedom and order Paper Freedom And Order Freedom without order leads to chaos. Order without freedom leads to tyranny. Only in Christ can these two warring combatants become creative comrades in the dance of grace. Freedom is a wonderful and terrible paradox. In its purest sense, freedom means having no boundaries, borders, rules or restrictions. It Is the uninhibited will to do or refrain as one desires. Freedom defines, in part, deity. After all, who tells God what to do? Made in his image and likeness, we also were designed for freedom, but our broken and dos-ordered hearts bring only chaos. Whether were talking about reckless drivers who feel no need to obey the speed limits or the killing fields of Cambodia, human beings strive constantly to break through any barriers that prevent them from doing as they see fit. The pursuit of freedom without order invariably brings chaos and ultimately results in death. The opposite is also true. Order without freedom leads to another kind of death- tyranny. We are not designed for slavery, and each of us Is born with the God-given and God-like capacity to will and to choose. Anything that robs us of that capacity ninnies us what may be the defining characteristic of our humanity. When humanity experienced the Fall, however, the brokenness of sin infected our conscience. Humans now abuse order In the same way they abuse freedom. Order becomes a weapon of control, a device to simply impose my will upon yours. A war now rages in every human heart. Reckless freedom claws at the eyes of violent order in a deadly pas De dues. Only in Christ can these two warring factions become creative comrades In the dance of grace. How? Christ promises life-real life-and that more abundantly than the chaos and tyranny hat characterizes human experience. The life he promises is born from the union of both the freedom and order he brings. Consider biological life for a moment. Science still wrestles with the definition of life Itself, but at a minimum, all seem to agree that life is composed of Increasingly complex structures of inorganic matter that result in behaviors that characterize living things. In other words, if we structure protons, neutrons and electrons in a certain way, we have a soda can-but rearrange the ordering of those same particles, and now we have a cell. Life flows out of the order of structure. In the same way, true life-giving freedom flows out of the well-ordered heart and does not depend upon external structures to either maintain or exercise it. And it is precisely because we are designed to be free that no one-including God-can force us to be free. God is not a tyrant, nor has he designed us for tyranny. We must freely choose to bring order to our broken hearts if we want true freedom, and we must choose to not allow any one or anything to rob us of that God-given freedom. Only Christ, who freely chose the obedience of the cross, can set us free to be free. The freedom that Christ brings has two components: freedom from sin, and the freedom to do good works. External forms of order in social relationships-traffic laws, or the Ten Commandments, for example-are necessary because human beings are 1 OFF not Intrinsically Tree to condos good Demeanor. In toner words, external Torts AT control are necessary to regulate the effects of sin. Without external structures like criminal codes and police agencies to enforce them, the world would be plunged into hellish chaos. The evening news suggests, even with those external structures, the world appears to be growing more chaotic. ) Yet while external order can regulate the effects of sin, it cannot remove the root causes of it. Only Chrisms work on the Cross can destroy the effects of sin in our lives Christ wants something better for us than the Ten Commandments. He does not want us to refrain from killing others because we will be punished if we do. Rather, he wants us to love those that hate u s-Just as He does. To move from a place of abstaining from, under threat from means moving away from external structures and toward internal ones, from tyranny to freedom. It means becoming more like Him. For me to able to do this, my heart needs to be re-ordered by the work of the Spirit and his Word. What is the gospel? It is the good news that what was in the beginning shall be so again in the end. It is the restoration of the image of God in me. We know that freedom and order can become creative comrades in the dance of grace because we see it displayed in Jesus, who died for us, and in whose image we are being made.

Performance appraisal systems also make it possible for employees to understand their capability development and their performance, and in this sense keep employee morale high and improve organizational health. This is possible through an effective and fair appraisal system (Boachie-Mensah and Seidu, 2012). Various research studies have explored performance Appra isal systems and the need for such systems to work effectively in organizations. This section reviews literature on performance appraisal practices and policy options by looking at main approaches in performance appraisal, objectives of performance appraisal programs, issues surrounding performance appraisal systems, the managerial role and employee perceptions in performance appraisal, and performance appraisal practices in the entertainment / nightlife industry. Background of Performance Appraisal Performance Appraisal has been in existence since the industrial revolution where it was used a means of monitoring organizational output (Fandray, 2001). However during the earlier days, it was used more as a negative procedure than a positive one. It was often linked to punishment and reactivity to poor performance (Kennedy & Dresser, 2001). This implies that the performance appraisal focused on punishment of employees for poor performance as a way of motivating the employees to perfor mance highly. However, overtime the performance appraisal has continually evolved over the years. Kennedy and Dresser (2001:8) note that, as years passed organizations gradually refined their performance measurement techniques that focused on improving performance, with the trend focusing more on a move towards rewards than punishment. In the past three decades, researchers and practitioners have vigorously and critically analysed and examined the effectiveness of how various performance appraisals are used within different organisational contexts (Kondrasuk, 2011). Though there have been a wide array of studies on effectiveness of performance appraisal system, no consensus has yet been reached concerning what type of performance appraisal universally best meets the desired objectives of various organisational contexts. This implies that different performance appraisal systems are suitable for different organisational contexts. Definition of Performance Appraisal and main approaches Various scholars have defined performance appraisal in a number of ways. Armstrong (2006:450) defined it as steps involved in assessing the performance of employees, recording such performance and providing feedback to the employees. It is a formal employee monitoring system (Cardy & Dobbins, 1994; Ikramullah, et al, 2012: 144), which often involves evaluation of employees performance based on the opinions and judgments of supervisors, workers, managers, peers and subordinates (Jackson & Schuler, 2003:455). On the other hand, Nath (2011:648) defines it as formal procedures employed in evaluating employeeââ¬â¢s contributions, possibilities and potentials within an organization. This
